- PLI Leadership Project: Shine a Light
- My PLI leadership project aims to shine a light on the social/emotional issues that impact students with disabilities in and outside of the classroom. The project will help to build cultural awareness as it relates to the social and emotional issues that impact students with disabilities. By building awareness among teachers, the project intends to develop a more welcoming school community for students with disabilities and their families.
- 4th Grade Planning
- I started the year off by giving a presentation on integrating curriculum through STEAM. I also worked with teachers to create an integrated lesson plan for a conservation unit. Additionally, I oversaw teachers' development of a formative writing piece that followed a series of lessons using informative literature, videos, hands on science experiments, and art. Furthermore, I wrote a proposal for teachers so they could aquire the space next year for a hands-on science lab.
- Liaison Between Home School and After School Program
- The main focus of this project was to collaborate and consult with coaches and program director regarding alternative programing and flexible scheduling for students with special needs. World Fit for Kids services our students at Plasencia Elementary School Monday through Friday from 2:30pm until 6:00pm. They provide a comprehensive nutritional and exercise program for the students. They also set aside 60-90 minutes per day to assist with homework. However, they do not always know our students as well as we do, especially in the beginning of year, and for the program to be effective for the students it requires collaboration between the liason and the director and coaches to work together to accommodate students with special needs.
- Treasurer for Parents of Plasencia Math and Science Magnet Center
- As treasurer for Parents of Plasencia (POP), my job is to make timely deposits, document earnings, as well as plan for expenditures and additional fundraising.
- 4th Grade Project Based Learning-Health and Wellness (Project Leader)
- As the project leader, I organized an inclusive Health and Wellness PBL with a 4th grade teacher and two special day class teachers. Teachers met weekly for the first month to plan projects and rotations. Rotations were organized around nutrition, self-care, the human body, and being a buddy not a bully.
