These are some projects I have worked on over the 2014 - 2015 academic year that demonstrate my ability to meet the California Administrator Performance Expectations.
- Leadership Project: Math Attitudes Along Gender Lines
- Currently, women hold less than 25% of STEM-related careers in the United States. Where does this disparity start? For my leadership project, I collected and analyzed data from middle- and high school math classes to see how girls and boys feel about math before they enter the workforce.
- Fieldwork Project: Member of the UTLA Board of Directors
- As a director of the second-largest teachers' union in the United States, I help to set union policy and discuss important issues of teacher rights and student rights. During my term on the Board, I have worked to develop the Schools Los Angeles Students Deserve campaign, and have had several opportunities to participate in LAUSD/UTLA contract negotiation sessions.
- Fieldwork Project: UTLA Chapter Chair at Logan Span School
- As the Chapter Chair at Logan Span School, I was the spokesperson for teachers' concerns at my school. I organized meetings with teachers, parents, and the administration, and I had several opportunities to work with my principal and other stakeholders to make decisions about our school's budget.
- Fieldwork Project: Developing a CAHSEE Math Prep Tutoring Program at STEM Academy of Hollywood
- I worked with STEM's principal, instructional coach, and counselor to collaboratively develop a CAHSEE prep program that yielded impressive results!
